ROTOPLAS® tanks are made of high density polyethylene and are another excellent choice for water storage, food products and more than 300 corrosive chemicals.

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic with good chemical resistance to water and a wide variety of chemicals, as long as the operating temperature does not exceed 60°C. Please check with your sales agent for chemical resistance tables to verify the product to be stored.

They are manufactured with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene = HDPE) high density virgin polyethylene HD-8660/8661 from the Exxon brand, certified by the FDA (US Food & Drug Administration) 177.1520. They are manufactured by roto-moulding process, according to ASTM specifications which implies the use of molds and expensive machinery, so the options of sizes and dimensions are limited to those of the existing molds and standard models. To avoid degradation of the molecular structure of polyethylene by ultraviolet light from the sun, tanks are manufactured with ultraviolet light inhibitors.

1. They are manufactured in one piece in black and white.

It is recommended to select the black color for products that may suffer decomposition due to sunlight.

2. The tanks are manufactured in 3 classes regarding their thickness and resistance:

- Standard: used for water and non-corrosive products with a density up to 1.2 g/cm³

- Reinforced 20%: used for corrosive products and/or with density up to 1.5 g/cm³

- Reinforced 40%: used for very corrosive products and/or with a density up to 1.8 g/cm³

3. Keeps its content free of colors, flavors and odors

4. Do not rust and do not corrode

5. They have a hermetic seal that maintains temperature and avoids humidity

6. Do not allow leaks

7. No maintenance required

8. Under severe operating conditions, the tanks may suffer slight deformations in their structure.

Storage tanks (TAN), funnel-type tanks (TOLs), horizontal tanks (TNH), closed vertical tanks (TVC) and special vertical tanks (TVE) are supplied from the factory only with an access record on the 457 mm (18") diameter with threaded cover.

PP threaded hexagonal connection

For charge, discharge, draining or other services, hexagonal PP connections with EPDM or VITON packaging may be installed in the tank, depending on the product to be stored. Available diameters are:

The hexagonal connections must be installed on the flat plates that the tank body has. Please request the corresponding drawing for the location of the connections

It is recommended to install a venting connection in the tank, which must be the same diameter as the diameter of the discharge connection. Venting is necessary to allow the tank to always work at atmospheric pressure, preventing it from being pressurized or collapsed when filled and emptied. The adapter is installed by screwing it on a standard hexagonal connection and the available diameters are 2 "and 3"

Other connections

Nipples, ball valves, square connections and other connections are also provided for all tank models. Please request detailed information from your sales agent.

• Flat bottom tanks should be fully supported on a reinforced concrete or structural steel base. The base must be perfectly rigid, completely flat and smooth and measure at least 100 mm more than the diameter of the tank.

• It is recommended to thoroughly sweep and clean the base and preferably to place a layer without overlaps of 5 mm neoprene Shore A hardness 50 to 70.

• The flat bottom should never be installed on discontinuous supports such as piles, pipes or structural profiles as it will suffer fractures.

• Conical bottom tanks should be installed on a specially designed and constructed metal structure for each tank measurement. Please ask your sales agent for the prices of the structures.

• The horizontal tanks are installed leaning on their body, they have stabilizing supports and they must be held firmly to the structure of the platform or chassis of the vehicle that will transport the tanks.
